Splatter

Jackson Pollock: inspiration for Splatter

Splatter is a piece inspired by the works of Jackson Pollock, particularly the one the MFA in Boston (displayed above). It is a sonic painting in the style of Pollock.

There are three sound layers in this composition. The first layer is a dry, samp le and hole white noise instrument which creates the canvas. The second layer are short FM sounds with randomized frequency, C:M ratios, modulation index, envelope shap e, amplitude, and panning. These are the splatters. The final layer is a repeating tonal seq uence of notes with random durations, played by an FM instrument with randomized parameters.

This piece was realized using Csound and Python.
